Mother's Day with a Golf Mom: 4 Fun Activites

Mother's Day is special. Did you know that in America, it dates back to 1908, thanks to Anna Jarvis? It’s a wonderful time to celebrate amazing women. Whether you’re celebrating your femininity and motherhood, having a self-love day, or celebrating the women in your life, this day is a day for you to set aside some much-needed time and dedication. Mothers have raised us, nurtured us, and supported us through thick and thin - a task that cannot be encompassed by one day only.

This year, why not show your appreciation by treating your mom to some fun Mother's Day activities, like matching mommy & me outfits, getting outdoors together, and more?

Let’s say you’re a duo - mother and whoever may be with her. Or maybe you’re a whole family. Or maybe you’re spending the day solo celebrating yourself. However it may look to you, there are so many activities that can make this day special.

You could get a bouquet of flowers, but let’s think deeper (the most popular Mother's Day gift is flowers, like 60% of Americans buy flowers for their mothers/daughters/wives/etc. on this day). Love the outdoors? Love staying inside? Pick and choose some activities from this list - especially if she loves golf or tennis (because that's what our specialty is!). You can do outdoor activities in many forms if that’s what you see fit as your ideal special day.

Let’s check out some outdoor activities and some outfits to wear to each!

Mother-Daughter Tennis Match: If the woman you’re celebrating loves tennis, try organizing a mother-daughter tennis match. It doesn’t have to be a long tournament, a grueling workout, or anything of the like. Just grab your racquets and find the nearest court! You can even invite other mother-daughter pairs for a doubles tournament. Decorate the court with balloons and streamers, and present the winners with a gift basket filled with their favorite items. If you’re in a warm climate, opt for a breathable printed tennis dress and a visor. And don’t forget the sunscreen ;)

Our Outfit Choice: A matching set consisting of blue printed dresses - a blue geometric print girls' golf dress and a women's blue printed golf dress.

Golf and Brunch: Simple, classic, timeless! Go for a round of golf, and then treat yourselves to a brunch nearby (think clubhouse, diners, and so).  Be wary, though - you may need reservations at many places! You could even turn your golf cart into a mini karaoke machine and sing your heart out as you drive around the golf course. Create a playlist of your mom's favorite songs and have a blast singing along together. Try wearing a matching mommy & me, dad and son, family outing (whoever is going!) outfit.

Our Outfit Choice: an incredibly lovely family outing outfit consisting of the women's Darby golf dress, girls' Darby golf dress,  girls' Delaney golf dress, and the infant and toddler Delaney golf dress all in Club Life Peri - a golf and beach print with blue and blue accents. The male equivalent pictured below is the men's blue performance polo, featuring an interesting stripey pattern in the same blue and white tones. These are suitable for moderate to warm temperatures, which are typical of May depending on where you’re located - if it gets a bit chilly, they're made from lightweight, smooth fabrics that won't bulk up and get uncomfortable under a sweatshirt.

This family outing outfit is a great way to bring it full circle for the cutest Mother’s Day pictures on the course.

If you want to add some personality and fun to your Mother's Day golfing adventure, consider wearing some fun printed golf clothing. From whimsical patterns to bold graphics, there are plenty of options when it comes to printed golf shirts, skirts, and pants! Below we have a blue floral print girl's dress (Master Bloom Peri print). A beautiful floral, mid length dress that allows for full movement, and comes in matching styles for adults, children, and infants.

Beach (or grassy field) Picnic: If your mom enjoys being outdoors, pack a picnic basket and head out to a local arboretum, sandbar, or wherever her favorite place to relax is. You don’t need a fancy picnic basket or outdoor blanket if you don’t have them - opt for a tote bag and some Tupperware for your favorite fair and take a seat on an old blanket or sleeping bag. Find a shady spot to spread out, and enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch before or after your round of golf. You can even bring a frisbee, some putters, a guitar, or whatever is involved in your activity of choice.

Our Outfit Choice: a sun safe, comfortable girls' swimsuit for a beach picnic with a young one, or regardless of where you're headed, a women's golf dress of any kind. Check out these mommy & me options to browse some outfits that align with the image below!

Go all matchy-matchy: I know, I know. I've definitely mentioned how cute it is to wear matching family outfits. But I have to say it again! If you're looking for a fun and stylish way to celebrate Mother's Day with your mom, try matching mommy & me outfits. Whether you're hitting the golf course or just hanging out together, matching outfits can be a fun and playful way to show your love and appreciation. They even make for a fun and memorable photo shoot - no matter the occasion.

For golfing moms, there are plenty of options when it comes to matching outfits. You can find golf shirts, skirts, and dresses in a variety of colors and prints, so you're sure to find something that suits both your styles. Some popular options include polka dots, stripes, and florals, as well as classic solid colors like navy, white, and pink.

All in all, the most important thing is to spend quality time with your mom doing something that she loves - so don’t put too much pressure on yourselves. It’s a day to cherish and enjoy the women in our life with a full heart. So, whether you're matching outfits, hitting the golf course or tennis court, going for a hike, hoping for a food coma, or just spending some quality time together, Mother's Day is the perfect time to celebrate the amazing moms in our lives. Get out there and make some memories this Mother's Day!
